As the Pyllon Racing team set out to run 1,000 miles as a continuous relay from Monday 18th at 00:00, we’re looking for your support across the week!
Running is our way our putting our best selves out there. Of feeling a sense of satisfaction and achievement every time we make the effort to go out and run. We know it’s been a way for us to stay healthy, physically and mentally. And one of our big aims is to help others experience that too, and join our Pyllon community - whether new to running, a coached athlete or just someone who wants to start developing some better habits.
How to get Involved
The best way, would be for you to ‘donate’ some of your own Endeavour Support miles! We can’t run together due to lockdown, but you could make a special effort to get out there and see if the 1,000 miles run by the team can be matched by our wider community. Maybe you can get the kids involved and they can donate a single mile to the event too? Where lockdown conditions allow, meeting a friend for a short run can be one of the best ways to stay connected too - do you need a better reason than that?
It’s simple! Just let us know how many miles you do on each or any of the days we are running (Monday to Sunday at 11:59:59), and we’ll keep track of them and try to pull together an Endeavour Support running total. We know for sure that would inspire and motivate us to keep on pushing when things get tough :) We’ll also donate some spot prizes for anyone who takes part and is lucky enough to be selected!
How do I donate my miles?
All you have to do is post on social media your distance, and tag us (@pyllon) and also use the hashtag #PyllonEndeavour and #MentalHealth. For anyone who uses Strava we also have a Club set up and you could join us there (Pyllon Endeavour) and donate your miles using the same hashtag. We reckon that you may be able to cover well over 1,000 miles in total and that would be amazing to see. Running makes us better humans. And this project will help us to create a bigger, more supportive community. Awareness of mental health issues helps so much - and it’s never been so important.
Other ways:
TALK: It’s not always obvious when people are struggling or suffering mental health problems - so ask, and listen. Just creating a safe space - free of judgement for people to talk about how they feel can be life changing and life saving.
FOLLOW: we’ll do our best to update you on the event through the website and across social media. We’ll have someone running at all hours day and night for a full week
SUPPORT: we’d love it if you could send us burritos again. We’re joking - we haven’t eaten another since the last event! We will be running for 168 hours straight - so feel free to send some messages of support at any time. It’ll make all the difference at 2 in the morning to know someone is following!
SHARE: clearly we cannot get together in person, so if you do want to support us please share our messages, leave comments and likes on social media and let others know more about why we are doing this challenge
DONATE: SAMH are our charity partner again and we are hoping to help them continue the great work they do by raising funds for them - awareness of mental health saves lives. So if you can spare any money, we know it will be used wisely, and it will make a difference. Donate now.
Thanks!
Hope to see your Endeavour Support miles soon :)
