84 days to go: Sweating out the All Inclusive
Mini-block. That’s the term. Nope, not the tiny bits of Lego that you just cannot prise off after mistakenly putting on the wrong brick. Mini-block is a focused short period with a specific aim in terms of training / stimulus.
My last 3 weeks have been exactly that, which was rather perfect leading to a holiday.
I am writing this little mini-blog - see what I did there - at the poolside as Caelan and Euan float about a pool talking about… well, it’s better I don’t know. Louise is on a lounger with a Pina Colada. Tomorrow is the last day. It’s important to take some proper R&R in life, training and all that. This may be the first time in 6 years I’ve travelled without a laptop and means this blog is being written on Notes on an iPhone. So please excuse the mitsakes (I meant that one!)
When away I like to run daily but with less intensity and distance. I’ve only run one session this week in 6 runs. Max run was a half marathon and I’ve done just about 100k across the week.
Routine is simple. I get up around 0700, do a run and be back between 0900-0930. Showered, breakfast and then down to the pool with an awesome array of slides. Some light stretching at the Bali bed and just relaxing otherwise.
The temps have been incredible, 30-35 by 0830 most mornings and it’s fair to say some of the locals have looked at me in despair as I complete my daily run out.
It’s been great just to take it easy pace wise but still get a load of nice impact from the heat.
As the week ends I feel fresh, a tad full from the buffets and ready to tackle the coming week as I head towards Toronto marathon in October.
Thanks for reading!
