#TeamPyllonTunes: June 2018

June playlist is live! :)

It’s month 2 of the #TeamPyllonTunes mix and this month we have a whopping 17 tracks to share with you. Some of the team wanted to share 1, 2, 3 and more songs but 1 a month suffices, eh? The mix this month is more eclectic than a Nexus Green breakfast!

Kicking us off is the king of #fuckyeah John Connolly with the outstanding tune that is Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song. Thor-esque determination needed here. The Michelle Smart changes the pace and genre with Tune Splits the Atom by 808 State.

In recognition of the futility of 24 hour track running, Grant McDonald tells us Going Nowhere by Cut Copy is rather apt. It’s a rocking choice by Marco Consani with the excellent Silversun Pickups and Gun-Shy Sunshine.

Back to Scotland we go, and Mon the Biff! Wolves of Winter, chosen by Derek Fish. Staying in the Homeland for many of the Pyllon team sees Richard Darroch’s Glasvegas selection Geraldine up next.

Young Fathers follow with the apt Still Running picked by Macrun. Craig Calderwood is The Champion and that’s by Carrie Underwood ft. Ludacris.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs with the excellent Zero is pointed to us by Joe Goldie, and Matthew Hunter gets all anthemic with Hozier’s Take Me to the Church.

Talking of anthems, Gayle Tait hits us with a vocal masterclass from McAlmont & Butler with Yes. Then Gordon Reed’s pick Hall of Mirrors by The Distillers follows on. Very different!

Gareth Reynolds throws Protectors of the Earth at us by Thomas Bergersen. Robert Turner puts us back to the 90s with an all-time classic and a thing many of us are used to after races; Insomnia by Faithless.

The two Karens, Wallace and Williams, give us very different songs but both earworms regardless! We have Pink’s Beautiful Trauma and Whitesnake’s Here I Go Again cheese-fest respectively.

And then, seeing us out is one of the finest voices in music, Scott Walker singing the Jacques Brel classic Mathilde; chosen by James Stewart followed by Mr Pyllon himself with the excellent Emerald Rush by Jon Hopkins.

The playlist link stays the same each month. It has been updated and you can get the new tunes at the link below. Give it a whirl, and contribute next month. And that’s not just for TeamPyllon athletes.
