Day 2 Update - Endeavour

AFTER 32 HOURS OF RUNNING, HERE’S WHAT IS HAPPENING

Endeavour Overnight Summary

Kaz Williams led us off as we headed into the end of day 1, in her 2 hour leg she packed an impressive 2625 feet of ascent into her 11miles. Kaz confessed to struggling with imperial units so has been visualising 6 foot men to get a grip on what “feet” mean. There is only one 6 foot man in the vertically challenged Pyllon team, the one and only Marco Consani. For Kaz’s benefit we will give her the ascent figures in “Marcos” from now on. Kaz you climbed 437 Marcos.

Kaz counting how many Marcos the snow is..

Marco himself took over the next leg climbing 1729 feet (88 Marcos) in his 16.8 Miles before handing over to the Connolly brothers for the nightshift.

Looking over the Erskine Bridge towards Glasgow.

John led us into the night on Leg 6 with a monster climbing session of 20.8 miles and 8228 feet of ascent (More Marcos than I can count!).

Graham started Leg 1 of day 2 and toughed out the 12-4am shift with 27 miles and 3250 feet of climbing

It was over to Rob Turner for the early morning shift. Rob had a few tough moments, apologies for the level of detail if you are reading this over your breakfast. In Rob’s own words

“6.8 shart near misses, 0.2 direct hits, 2.5 hours of stomach cramps, 2 pit stops”

Despite his issues Rob managed a heroic 28.8 miles and 2345 feet of ascent

Totals are sitting as follows:

Hours run: 32

Distance run: 226.4 miles (target 190.5)

Elevation Gain: 32,169 feet (target 19,048 feet)

A strong first day but still very long way to go as the team need to priorities recovery for the days ahead.

32 Hours.

Get Involved!

  • RUN: you can support us, just by donating some Endeavour Support Miles of your own. It would motivate us if our community could get close to (and beat) 1,000 miles across the week. Just let us know how many miles you run by posting on social media, tagging @pyllon and using the hashtag #PyllonEndeavour - you can also log your miles on our Strava club - Pyllon Endeavour.

  • TALK: It’s not always obvious when people are struggling or suffering mental health problems - so ask, and listen. Just creating a safe space - free of judgement for people to talk about how they feel can be life changing and life saving.

  • FOLLOW: we’ll do our best to update you on the event through the website and across social media. We’ll have someone running at all hours day and night for a full week

  • SUPPORT: we’d love it if you could send us burritos again. We’re joking - we haven’t eaten another since the last event! We will be running for 168 hours straight - so feel free to send some messages of support at any time. It’ll make all the difference at 2 in the morning to know someone is following!

  • SHARE: clearly we cannot get together in person, so if you do want to support us please share our messages, leave comments and likes on social media and let others know more about why we are doing this challenge

  • DONATE: SAMH are our charity partner again and we are hoping to help them continue the great work they do by raising funds for them - awareness of mental health saves lives. So if you can spare any money, we know it will be used wisely, and it will make a difference. Donate now.
