GIFF WALTERS
“The last few years Giff has become stronger every single training block and he races like a pro. There’s so much still to come from him - trust me!”
I was a mediocre Junior Varsity Cross-Country runner in high school. But as I matured, I fell in love with the mountains and wild places while guiding backpacking and rock climbing trips in college. I also loved leading backcountry chainsaw / trail crews with the Arizona Conservation Corps.
In 2013 I paced a friend of a friend at the infamous Leadville 100 Trail Run and decided to check out this “trail running” thing.
I ran my first ultra in the spring of 2014 and went on to sign up for my first 100 mile race a couple months later. I landed on the podium in that race and it confirmed my love of endurance running.
I've now raced a real mix of ultras - from the tough mountain races at altitude, to the gnarly single-track canyon events and the brutally tough ones in the heat of the desert.
I've already achieved a handful of podiums and I feel there is still more to come.
I'm supported by Swiftwick, and Altra as well as being a Honey Stinger Elite athlete.
I love getting outside on daily micro-adventures in training and always work hard to achieve my potential when racing.
